Leetsdale Pennsylvania (September 10, 2017) – William Davidson, 51, of Ambridge, was identified as the man struck and killed by a train in Leetsdale on Saturday morning, according to a local news source.

According to officials of Norfolk Southern, the incident happened at about 1:20 a.m. September 9, along Fort Wayne Line near Ohio River Boulevard in Allegheny County.

According to a statement by the officials, Davidson was walking on the tracks when he was fatally hit by the train. The crew had sounded the horn and applied emergency brakes but could not stop in time.

The two-locomotive, 100-car train which belongs to Norfolk Southern was transporting coal to North Carolina.

Officials from Norfolk Southern and Leetsdale-based police are investigating the incident.
