Sad news today comes out of the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia where a bicyclist was killed in a motor vehicle accident Saturday night. The victim has been identified today as Pablo Avendano. Avendano was 34 years old when he was unfortunately struck by an SUV over the weekend. According to Philadelphia police, Avendano was bumped off his bicycle and then run over by the SUV.
Avendano’s catastrophic injuries, unfortunately, resulted in his death, as he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Apparently, the avid bicyclist was an avid member of the cycling community, and he had previously worked as a courier. The accident occurred at Spring Garden and 10th Streets sometime around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday. No charges have been filed yet as the driver of the SUV remained at the scene of the crash.
At Edelstein, Martin & Nelson, we are extremely familiar with cases such as this one. Avendano was an innocent bicyclist who did not deserve to have his life taken away so abruptly. Sadly, this is the unfortunate truth for so many people who survive accidents of this nature. Furthermore, there often seems to be very little help for those who are forced to endure the aftermath of a wrongful death, be it accidental or otherwise. Our attorneys are here to guide you through this painful process and help you obtain every cent of compensation you deserve.
