Was speeding the cause of a crash that caused your injuries? Today in Burnside Township, PA, a 20-year-old man named Ronald Marshall was cited for speeding after his involvement in an accident. He drove his 2006 Pontiac G6 north on Route 219 when he failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled directly into a guide rail. When the vehicle spun, it crossed the road and hit an embankment, causing it to travel about 60 feet before it stopped. Luckily, there were no injuries in this accident, but what would have happened if other parties were involved?
Unfortunately, speeding is one of the main causes of accidents in Pennsylvania. Some of the major causes of accidents involve, in this order: drunk driving, speeding, distractions, and bad weather. Speeding is known to be the second highest cause of deaths in vehicle accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about 9,000 people were fatally injured due to vehicle speeding in just 2014! No matter where the accident takes place and no matter what the road conditions, speeding is extremely dangerous and can cause an accident in the blink of an eye.
There are many reasons why people speed to get where they are going. This is because they are in a hurry, they are not paying close attention to how fast they are traveling, they feel like they are above the law and an accident could never happen to them, or they think that it’s safe to speed in places where there might not be other vehicles.
If you have suffered severe injuries due to a speeding driver, you may be able to receive compensation for your injuries and more. When a driver has acted outright recklessly, such as in cases of speeding, you could hold them liable in your accident. You may be able to recover for things like medical treatment, lost income from missing work, pain and suffering from emotional turmoil, and more.
