2 Men Dead after being Hit by Passing Driver on Route 222 near Peach Road
West Earl Township, Pennsylvania (September 10, 2017) – Two men were killed after being hit by a passing driver on Sunday morning in Lancaster County, according to a Lancaster County Coroner.
The fatal incident took place at about 1:50 a.m. on Route 222 on the northbound side of the highway near Peach Road in West Earl Township.
The two deceased men were identified on Sunday afternoon as Ralph Henry Watrous, 44, of Rheems, and Robert M. Buckwalter Jr., 46, of Ephrata.
A tow truck driver from Rheems and the Ephrata motorist he was helping were both killed when they were hit by a passing driver.
Police mentioned that Anthony Caldwell from Stafford, Virginia was heading north when his car hit the two men and a rollback tow truck which was located at the berm of the highway.
The tow truck from AAA tow service was on the road to remove a disabled car, as per West Earl police.
Caldwell was not hurt in the incident.
An investigation into the incident is underway by West Earl police, the Lancaster County crash team and the district attorney’s office.
