A serious motor vehicle accident this afternoon sent two women to the hospital in Centre County. The three-vehicle crash occurred on South Pennsylvania Avenue near the Potter Street intersection in Centre Hall around 1:20 p.m. According to authorities, a woman driving a red pickup truck crashed into a man driving a combine before also striking an SUV. The pickup truck was severely damaged, causing the driver to be entrapped in the vehicle.
Pleasant Gap and Centre Hall fire company crews were able to free the woman from the truck. She was treated by LifeLink paramedics and Pleasant Gap EMS at the scene. A helicopter landed nearby to fly the woman to Gesinger Medical Center in Danville to be treated for severe, possibly catastrophic injuries. The woman who was driving the SUV was treated at the scene for minor injuries but reportedly taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center thereafter. The male driver of the combine suffered no injuries and was released from the scene by state police at Rockview.
