Unfortunate accident news for Pennsylvania state comes out of the town of Howard today. A motorcyclist was catastrophically injured late yesterday afternoon in Centre County when his bike went off the highway while passing a tractor-trailer. Sadly, Adam Riglin, 39, was confirmed dead just before 6:00 pm on Wednesday. No matter what, motorcycle accidents are almost always extremely severe, and they consistently remind us to be alert and on the lookout for motorcyclists.
Motor vehicle accidents, whether they involve large trucks, small cars, motorcycles, or anything else, typically result in serious injury or worse. According to authorities, Riglin was heading west on I-80 when he switched lanes in order to pass a slower moving tractor-trailer. Apparently, Riglin lost control somewhere around the 157-mile marker, subsequently being thrown from his bike while the motorcycle slid underneath the commercial truck. The westbound lanes of the I-80 were shut down between the Bellefonte and Milesburg Exits but reopened around 7:30 pm.
