Matt Petcel, 50, Killed in Electric Bike Crash on Street Road in Lower Southampton

Lower Southampton, Pennsylvania (September 20, 2017) – According to a local news source, a 50-year-old man was killed after being involved in a traffic collision Monday afternoon in Lower Southampton.

The deadly event transpired at around 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 18 on Street Road.

As per the article, Matt Petcel, 50, was riding a modified electric bicycle west on Street Road before he attempted crossing the intersection of Central Avenue and was struck by a rented transit van traveling in the opposite direction. The van allegedly turned left right into the path of the bike leading to the collision.

Paramedics were called to the scene, and they pronounced Petcel dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, the van sustained damage to the passenger side door.

Both directions along Street Road were closed down during an on-scene investigation.

Authorities are still collecting information to determine the cause of the accident and who exactly was at fault.
