Today a man was pronounced dead from the catastrophic injuries he suffered during a fire last night on Center Avenue in Terre Hill. The fire happened around 5:30 last night, and according to fire rescue officials, there were at least a dozen people in the house when the fire started.
Reports initially stated that one man was trapped in the house in or near the basement. However, firefighters actually found the man near the garage at the time of rescue. The man was later identified as David Phillips, a 46-year-old resident of Lancaster County. Phillips initially seemed to only be suffering from injuries, yet his passing away today has coroners working diligently to determine the exact cause of death. The fire is still under an investigation being conducted by the Weaverland Valley Fire Department.
The most perplexing part of this tragedy is the disconcerting manner in which Phillips perished. He died today at the hospital because of the injuries that he suffered yesterday. As unfortunate as his passing is, only time will tell the exact cause of his death. Regardless of our efforts to understand, nearly every house fire results in at least minor to severe injuries.
