Madera, PA (August 3, 2018) On Friday, a fatal truck accident occurred involving another vehicle on Route 53. Apparently, a vehicle with a woman and a 7-year-old boy inside were headed northbound when they made a left turn and collided with an oncoming truck. Unfortunately, the woman died at the scene. Her name was Sara Shaw and she was 29 years old. The EMS transported the boy to UPMC Altoona, but he also suffered fatal injuries, unfortunately. Officials are investigating the crash to determine the cause of the accident and who is at fault.
Truck accidents are highly dangerous and almost always result to the passengers in the smaller vehicle obtaining injuries. This fact is largely due to the size difference between a truck and a regular sized vehicle. The weight and speed have a major impact on the smaller car, which makes its passengers highly susceptible to receiving injuries. Injuries range from severe, to catastrophic, to fatal. Once investigators determine who is at fault, the family of Shaw and the little boy can pursue a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of an attorney.
The most common cause of vehicle accidents is distracted driving, which includes using a cell phone, conversing with another passenger, eating, or applying makeup. Other causes include speeding, driving under the influence, defective auto parts, or bad road conditions. If investigators discover that the accident occurred due to negligence, then the wrongful death lawsuit will be easier to prove. No family should have to lose their loved ones due to the negligence of other drivers.
