Interstate 78 Two-Vehicle Crash Injures Kayla M. Starkweather
Lower Macungie Township, PA (September 26, 2017) – Pennsylvania State Police reported an injury involved in an SUV and ambulance collision Sunday evening.
According to the report, the collision occurred near the eastbound ramp of Interstate 78 around 6 p.m. September 24.
The collision involved a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse being driven by a 17-year-old female from Chalfont, and a 2003 Ford Northern Valley EMS ambulance being driven by 28-year-old Stephanie A. Rowan, of Catasauqua.
The report showed that the SUV was turning into the eastbound ramp from Hamilton Boulevard when its passenger side was struck by the ambulance. The impact caused the SUV to roll onto its side.
Police said the SUV driver did not give proper clearance while turning.
The collision sent the teenage driver of the SUV to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township via Cetronia Ambulance. It also injured a passenger on board the ambulance identified as 27-year-old Kayla M. Starkweather, of Hellertown. She was transported to the hospital too.
As of Monday morning, the hospital had no record of Starkweather.
Police have cited the teenager with a turning violation.
