Crash Causes Severe Damage
Hazleton, PA (July 6, 2018) On Friday afternoon, around 12:00 p.m., two drivers collided into each other on South Church Street. The accident was so severe that it caused a traffic jam on Route 39. One of the women drove a Chevrolet Sedan that crashed into a railroad crossing sign. Officials found the sedan against a sidewalk in front of the former Blue Comet Diner. The other woman drove a Honda SUV. Officials found the Honda against a sidewalk a few feet south of the sedan.
Firefighters had to cut open both doors on the driver’s side just to get the woman out of her sedan. An ambulance transported both women to Lehigh Valley Hospital. A towing service company towed both of their vehicles away from the scene. The severity of their injuries is unknown as of now. More investigation will determine who is liable and fault for the incident.
The number one cause for car accidents is negligent driving, which in many cases can and should be avoided. Negligent driving comes in many forms, such as utilizing a cell phone, talking to another passenger, looking at something other than the road, eating, speeding, or driving under the influence. Drivers or passengers suffering from severe or fatal injuries should be compensated for damages and losses, especially if the injuries were caused by negligence.
Because the two drivers’ vehicles were towed from the scene, it’s likely that both women are suffering severe injuries and will file personal injury lawsuits.
