Head-on collisions are certainly among the most devastating and often fatal types of motor vehicle accidents. Unfortunately, this was proven to be true once again early Sunday morning in North Philadelphia. According to police, that’s where a head-on crash claimed the life of three people and left one other person in critical condition. The two vehicles, heading north and south, collided in the Feltonville neighborhood around 1:40 a.m.
None of the victims’ names have been released, but all four were merely in their 20’s. Two men, both 22, and one unidentified young woman around the same age were pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle they were in reportedly burst into flames immediately after the collision. The sole occupant of the other vehicle, an unnamed 29-year-old man is the only survivor of the crash as he was rushed to Temple University Hospital with catastrophic injuries.
While police are currently still investigating the crash, they are certain that speeding was a relevant factor simply because of the severe damage. It is not uncommon for a head-on collision to yield such tremendously horrible results, although determining the cause(s) could go a long way toward helping the surviving victim and the loved ones of those who lost their lives.
