Unfortunate news today comes out of Lancaster County where one man died and at least two others were injured in a motor vehicle accident. Lancaster-Wide Communications said that the crash happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Route 23/Main St. The accident occurred in Caernarvon Township where rescue helicopters had to be called to the scene.
According to the Lancaster County Coroner, 83-year-old Paul L. Gehris of Berks County died at the scene of the crash. He was reportedly trapped inside one of the vehicles that were involved in the crash. Pennsylvania State Police did not release any further information, so it is unknown how the accident occurred at this time, although crews reported a minivan that was apparently tipped over on its side.
According to dispatch reports, at least three people in total were injured, and a JeffSTAT Helicopter landed on the scene at 8:30. The helicopter transported Gehris’ wife to Reading Hospital, and severe or even catastrophic injuries are expected. Currently, however, the full extent of the woman’s injuries or any other injuries is not known.
