7 Injured in Aleksander Boulevard Pedestrian Crash in Mountain Top
Rice Township, Pennsylvania (August 26, 2017) – Seven people including five children were injured after being struck by a car on a street in a residential area in Mountain Top, Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. Friday, August 25 on Aleksander Boulevard near Wilkes-Barre in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The victims, a family of two adults and five children, were on a walk when they were struck by a car being driven by a middle-aged woman.
Among the children was a baby in a stroller.
Witness reports indicate that the car was being driven on the wrong way.
An emergency crew at the scene confirmed that the seven suffered major injuries and were in critical condition.
Two children were transported by ambulance while the rest were airlifted to a hospital.
Police are yet to determine the cause of the tragic crash.
The female driver, however, has been taken into custody and charges are pending.
