Man and 5 Kids Injured in I-80 Lanes West at Mile Marker 66.6
Clarion County, Pennsylvania (August 20, 2017) – Two vehicles collided in Clarion County on Friday morning causing injuries to six people, according to State Police in Clarion.
The incident occurred at about 2:29 a.m. August 18, on Interstate 80 West, at mile marker 66.6, in Clarion Township.
Bizimungu Francois, 25, from Cincinnati, Ohio was the driver of a 2012 Freightliner Acadia tractor-trailer that had been disabled from a previous crash and was now facing south. It was overturned on its passenger’s side and blocking both westbound lanes of I-80 in front of mile marker 66.6.
Avrohom Gruen, 34, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio was heading westbound in a 2008 Honda Odyssey in the right lane when he came upon the tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes.
The van struck the trailer and penetrated into the unit halfway causing many airbags to deploy and damage to the front of the vehicle. The van finally stopped facing westbound and still lodged in the trailer.
Francoise was not hurt while Gruen sustained minor injuries from the crash. He was using a seat belt. Five Children in Gruen’s van sustained injuries of unknown severity. All the van occupants were taken to hospitals.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
