Ashley Yakimovich, Rachel Hillman Struck and Hurt by Vehicle Mahanoy

Mahanoy, Pennsylvania (September 11, 2017) – Ashley Yakimovich, 17, and Rachel Hillman, 19, were injured after being hit by a vehicle in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, on Sunday morning.

According to a local news source, the accident occurred at about 2:15 a.m. September 10, in the 1100 block of East Mahanoy Avenue.

According to a report by the authorities, Francis T. Green, 33, was driving the vehicle when he struck the pedestrians, both from Mahanoy City.

Yakimovich, a senior student at Mahanoy Area High School, sustained life threatening injuries and was flown to a trauma center for treatment. Hillman was also airlifted for treatment, but the severity of her injuries was not immediately established.

Green was arrested and taken into custody, but authorities did not reveal the details of the charges. Meanwhile, the police are yet to conclude an investigation into the incident.
