It is generally well-known that construction jobs and other professions that involve large machinery can be dangerous. However, danger turned into death for a young man in Allentown Tuesday evening when he became trapped under a piece of machinery. The 32-year-old contractor became trapped just after 5:00 p.m. in a Pennsylvania pressroom in Lehigh County. Catastrophic injuries turned fatal as the man whose name has not been released died at the scene.
According to The Morning Call, newsroom workers reported hearing a very loud boom yesterday evening. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, although the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration has been clearly notified of the construction accident that resulted in the contractors’ death.
Safety and responsibility are the most important factors to consider in all construction type careers, and the horrifying results of yesterdays’ accident are precisely why. The victims’ employer is now likely facing wrongful death charges among a host of other violations. Albeit, only completion of the investigation will show exactly who was negligent and who will be left to compensate the victims’ family.
