Nine People injured in Upper Macungie 2-Vehicle Crash
Upper Macungie, Pennsylvania (September 5, 2017) – Nine people were injured in a 2-vehicle collision on I-78 in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County on Monday afternoon.
As per the Pennsylvania State Police report, the incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. September 4, in the northbound lanes of I-78 near MM 50.7.
The report indicates that a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Joseph Farnese, 21, of Riegelsville, crossed the centerline and side-swept a 2015 Chevy Traverse driven by Carmelo Juarez-Pena, 46, of Bayonne in New Jersey.
Paramedics confirmed that all the nine occupants of the Chevy were injured in the crash.
Farnese, however, was unhurt.
The patients were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in unknown condition.
An investigation is ongoing.
