Public transportation is often relied on as the safest way to travel. However, what happens when one of these vehicles is involved in a motor vehicle accident? Today, an Amtrak train made headlines after it slammed into a farm tractor in Rapho Township. The Lancaster County crash happened around 10:30 a.m. and left the driver of the tractor as well as four crew members and one passenger on the train injured.
According to police, the passengers of the train had to be transferred onto another train after the accident. All passengers were fortunate to escape catastrophic injuries as most train crashes end in devastation for all those involved. According to Susquehanna Valley EMS, the driver was treated at the scene but refused to be transported to the hospital. The other victims are reportedly being treated for minor injuries.
There is no doubt that all those involved were blessed to not have been more seriously hurt. Any large trucking accident or other crash involving a large vehicle typically results in absolute destruction and devastation. In any event, no matter the extent of injuries, someone needs to be held accountable for the wreck.
