Car Strikes 14-Year-Old Girl in Abington Township Pedestrian Crash
Abington Township, PA (August 24, 2017) – A 14-year-old girl, from Montgomery County, was hit by a car on Highland Avenue Wednesday afternoon. According to witnesses, the teenager was chatting on her phone via FaceTime app when she walked directly into the path of a southbound SUV. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. August 23, near Abington High School on the 900 block of the highway.
The driver of the SUV was unable to stop in time, which led to the crash.
The impact of the crash knocked the girl unconscious. First responders transported the girl to Abington Hospital. She was later transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the treatment of extensive injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver was not charged. Witnesses said that the driver pulled over and tried to help the girl.
